Hello and welcome back to the Arise Women of God podcast.
I'm your host, Tamara K. Andersen, and today we are exploring what happens when the veil is pulled back and God grants us a true divine revelation of spiritual warfare.
Here's what we're going to talk about in today's episode.
First, the Eyes of Understanding and what Ephesians 1:1719 teaches about seeing God's overwhelming back as well as my go to prayer when my kids are facing crisis.
Second, we'll talk about the mission and sight of God's timeline and why Acts 26:18 calls us to patient intercession while waiting for our loved ones to step into the light.
Third, we'll talk about the captain of the Lord's Host and Joshua 5, 13, 15.
Fourth, we'll look at Balaam's donkey and divine roadblocks in Numbers 22, letting go of our tight expectation, leaning on Proverbs 3, 5 and 6 to trust the Lord's timeline.
But let's begin with the biblical definition of having your eyes spiritually opened.
When people hear the phrase revelation of spiritual warfare, they often imagine a dramatic Hollywood movie scene of seeing demons behind every bush.
Look at what the Apostle Paul actually prayed for believers in Ephesians 1, 17:19 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that ye may know what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us.
Word who believe Notice what Paul prays for.
He doesn't pray for you to see darkness.
He prays for the eyes of your understanding to be enlightened so you can see see the exceeding greatness of God's power backing you.
A divine revelation of spiritual warfare is discovering just how thoroughly Jesus Christ has your back.
It's the realization that Every single battle you face is unique, and God is ready to give you custom understanding required to navigate it.
Whenever my children have been in crisis, whether it was a sensory meltdown of my son with autism, a teenage emotional storm, them dealing with deep depression, or perhaps a personal moment of deep distress, I have learned to never face them, relying on my own human intellect.
As I walked to a child's bedroom during a breakdown, I had an urgent running prayer in my heart and mind.
Lord Jesus, please be with me.
Help me know what to say, help me know what to do.
Show me how to bring peace.
Show me how to radiate your love right now.
And inevitably, God answered.
He gave me a calm spirit, softened my tone, and granted me the capacity to handle what felt impossible.
Divine revelation gives you heaven's eyes to see the hurting child beneath the difficult behavior.
Also, because of our unique circumstance with the mostly nonverbal, now adult son with autism, I've had to learn to call on angels because they are the only ones who can calm his tantrum most days.
Once your eyes are open, my friend, your entire approach to interceding for your family shifts.
In Acts 26:18, Christ reveals the true mission of spiritual sight to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light.
From the power of Satan unto God that they may receive forgiveness of sins.
This is the ultimate goal for us, and it is the cry of our hearts for our children, spouses and those we love.
The enemy's primary weapon is spiritual blindness, convincing our loved ones that sin is freedom, that God is distant, or that they are unlovable.
And you cannot scream someone out of spiritual blindness, although I think we've all tried.
You cannot argue someone into the light.
A divine revelation of warfare teaches us that we must often wait on the Lord's patient timing.
God is actively working on the hearts of your wandering children and your struggling family members.
He meets them where they are currently and guides them step by step to a place where they can finally receive his help.
Our job is not to force the breakthrough with human anxiety.
Our job is to keep the prayer line open, extend unconditional love, and trust the master gardener to cultivate their souls in his own due time.
Another profound revelation is understanding God's true position in our battles.
Look at Joshua in Joshua 5:13 15.
He was standing outside the massive fortified walls of Jericho, preparing for what probably fel like an impossible siege.
Suddenly he saw a majestic warrior standing before him with a drawn sword in his hand.
Joshua walked up and asked the natural human question, art thou for us or for our adversaries.
Listen to the warrior's shocking Response in verse 14.
Nay, but as captain of the host of the Lord, I am now come.
Joshua immediately fell on his face to the earth and worshiped.
Our posture is not giving God orders.
Our posture is falling on our faces in humble surrender, asking, lord, what do you want me to do when we ask and invite his angels into our home?
The commander of heaven's hosts leads the battle, bringing order out of our chaos.
Finally, a divine revelation of warfare changes how you react to everyday disruptions.
Look of Balaam in numbers 2222 34, Balaam was stubbornly riding his donkey down a path forbidden to him by God.
Along the way, the donkey swerved into a field and crushed Balaam's foot against a stone wall and finally collapsed beneath him.
Balaam was absolutely furious.
He began beating the donkey with his staff.
Then the Lord opened Balaam's eyes and what did he see?
The angel of the Lord standing directly in the narrow path with a drawn sword, ready to slay him.
The very thing Balaam thought was ruining his journey was actually God's merciful intervention saving his life.
Oh my sister.
How often do we get furious at the donkeys in our daily lives?
A spilled glass of milk right as you're walking out the door.
A blowout poopy diaper.
A child's sudden meltdown that derails the entire schedule.
A traffic jam, a canceled appointment, or a flat tire.
We view these moments as enemy attacks or unbearable friction.
But divine revelation reveals that what feels like frustrating mortal friction is often God's protective mercy unblocking an unseen ambush ahead.
Through the ups and downs of my life, I have learned that my frustration almost always stems from my own rigid expectations and my perceived timeline of how things should happen.
God's mercy and patience are so vast, my friend.
When we trust God and his heart, we can extend that same patience to our children and ourselves.
We anchor ourselves in Proverbs 3, 5 and 6.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding in all thy ways.
Acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Trust the process.
The timeline is God's, not yours.
When you receive a divine revelation of spiritual warfare, you stop fighting your family, you stop panicking over delays, and you step under the leadership of the captain of the Lord's hosts.
