Episode Takeaways

  • The Catalyst Principle: You cannot force another soul to change. Your role is to cultivate the spiritual atmosphere of your home. When you prioritize your own spiritual health, the weather of the entire home shifts from the inside out.
  • The "Is It Mine?" Mental Hack: When heavy, intrusive thoughts hit, step back and ask: Is this mine? Discern whether it is a biological glitch (fatigue, hunger) requiring rest, or a spiritual dart requiring you to command the adversary to depart.
  • Cast Out & Calm Down: When you recognize an attack, take three deep breaths and command the negative influence to leave. Crucial rule: You must fill the space you clear! Say three things you are grateful for out loud or turn on worship music so the enemy cannot return.
  • The Mobile First Aid Kit: When a 2 a.m. panic hits, logical reasoning shuts down. Every mother needs an on-the-go rapid-response system (like guided audio resets and visual armor cards) saved directly on her phone to immediately ground her nervous system.

Reflection Questions

  • Are you currently trying to "grab the steering wheel" and force change in a loved one, rather than acting as a living catalyst by letting God work on your own heart first?
  • Think of a recent heavy or intrusive thought. If you ran the "Is it mine?" test, was it a biological glitch (like exhaustion) or a targeted spiritual attack?
  • What is your immediate response when a meltdown erupts? Do you scramble, or do you have a rapid-response system ready to calm your nervous system?

Ordinary Women Extraordinary Faith When God calls, we say yes. The Arise Women of God Podcast hello and welcome back to the Arise Women of God Podcast.

I'm your host, Tamara K. Andersen, and today we are opening up an operational tactical manual for you and your home.

Today we're unpacking some key principles from our manual, A Mother's Spiritual Defense Guide, and showing you how to turn these tools into a rapid response protection. Stay tuned and I'll show you how to get this completely free at the end of today's episode.

First, we're going to talk about the Divine Partnership and the Catalyst Principle, trading force control for heavenly guidance and shifting your home's spiritual environment from the inside out. Next, we're going to talk about mastering discernment and how to spot the adversary's footprints and execute the three step Is it mine? Mental hack.

Then we're going to talk about casting out and calming down so that you can bring peace back into your home after a complete meltdown.

And finally, we're going to talk about using a mobile first aid kit, how to put audio resets and visual armor cards directly onto your phone for those 2am emergencies. First, let's dive into understanding your true role on the spiritual battlefield.

The first major shift in any spiritual warfare manual is realizing that you are not the general of this battle. You are in partnership with your king.

So often as moms, when we see one of our kids stumbling with mental health challenges, addiction, loss of faith, or some other challenge, we want to grab the steering wheel and force the change. I hope I'm not the only one who struggles with this, but agency is an eternal law. You can't force another soul to change.

Your role as a mom is to cultivate the spiritual atmosphere of your home and call upon heaven's power. This brings us to the catalyst principle. In chemistry, a catalyst triggers a transformation.

A living catalyst begins by allowing God to transform her own heart. First, let me give you an example of this.

Several years ago, I started on an intentional journey to improve my connection with God and take better care of myself. But a totally unexpected thing happened.

As I began prioritizing my relationship with the Savior through more intentional prayer, scripture study, and eliminating media that wasn't uplifting, I noticed that not only did I change, but that kind of trickled out to my husband and to my children as well. It was a powerful ripple effect.

When I shifted my focus to my own spiritual, physical and emotional needs, the spiritual weather of my entire home shifted. Why? Because you are the only individual in your home who you can truly change. But change can begin with you.

As John 8:12 promises, when you follow Jesus Christ and walk in the light of life, Jesus darkness cannot remain in the presence of a mother who is aligned with him. The next key covered in our manual is mastering discernment. You have to know when the adversary is attacking.

As our co founder and licensed clinical social worker Wendy Christensen teaches, the quickest way to spot a spiritual attack is to listen to your motherly intuition. When things get tense, simply ask, do I or my child kind of feel like ourselves right now?

If the answer is no, you aren't dealing with a bad attitude. You're dealing with negative interference. So ask that question, do I feel like myself right now? Does my child feel like themselves right now?

And keep an eye on that. The adversary loves to hide behind natural human physical challenges as well.

He takes physical exhaustion, hormone shifts or stress and drops an intrusive loop into your mind. Then he uses that thought to launch a shame spiral, whispering that you're a failure to break that loop. I invite you to execute our Is it mine?

Three step mental health hack that you'll find in our booklet. First, ask the discernment question, step back and pray. Lord, is this emotion or heavy thought mine? Next, you identify the source.

Is this a biological glitch, like physical depletion, hunger or fatigue? Or is it a spiritual dart, a targeted adversarial ambush? Once you have the answer to that, you execute the solution.

If it's a physical challenge, grant yourself grace, take a nap, drink some water, get some good food, or seek professional support. If it's a spiritual dart, command the adversary to depart in the name of Jesus Christ and refill yourself with light.

That brings us to our next step, which is cast out and calm down. When you recognize a spiritual attack, don't wait.

Ground yourself with three deep breaths and command the negative influence to depart in the name of Jesus Christ. But here's a vital rule in Spiritual Mechanics. You must fill the space you clear.

If you evict darkness but leave a spiritual void, the enemy will try to return. Here are a couple of ideas to help you reground yourself in peace. First, say three things you are thankful for out loud.

Gratitude brings in light or play worshipful praise music darkness cannot tolerate beautiful music. I love this one. That's one of my favorites.

Once the darkness is gone, your nervous system calms down and you can anchor your home and family in the peace of Jesus Christ. Now let's get completely honest with each other ladies.

When a sudden meltdown erupts in your home, or when you wake up in a cold sweat at two in the morning with racing thoughts, logical reasoning completely shuts down. In those moments of intense stress, it is really hard to remember what scripture to speak or how to word a prayer.

That is why every mother warrior needs an on the go rapid response system right on her phone.

Just as you keep a physical first aid kit in your pantry for scraped knees, you need a spiritual first aid kit stored on your phone so that when crisis strikes, you don't have to scramble.

You can press play on a guided audio reset or glance at a visual armor card to immediately ground your nervous system, halt the enemy's attack and restore God's peace. And we can help you with these tools as well. And I'll talk about that in just a minute. My dear sister.
