I'm your host, Tamara K. Andersen, and I'm back with trauma recovery support leader Bonnie Randall to lay out an off tactical blueprint on how to battle OCD thoughts. And we're especially happy to have Bonnie back because she has a daughter with OCD who is also on the autism spectrum.

 

And she's going to give us some amazing and practical tips on how to work with this today. When a neurological condition is being weaponized by the spiritual enemy, you cannot win the battle by fighting only on one front.

 

To help you dismantle the momentum of these loops, we are sharing three distinct practical keys. First, the multi front strategy.

And I love the scriptures because they give us the ultimate authority on how to take our territory.

 

Back In Luke chapter 10, verse 19, Jesus declares, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all, the power of the enemy. So, my friends, you have the spiritual right to tell the enemy to back off. Your mind or the mind of your child.

 

And we are starting this battle plan by having Bonnie share how she lays out the physical holistic foundation we must establish to heal our mental health.

And if it is just my brain having a moment, what do I need to do about it? Probably go seek professional help. You might need some medication. You might need to change your diet, you might need to exercise.

 

There's a lot of things that we can do beyond just medication that help our mental health. Okay, back to when it's a fiery dart.

 

That's when you can remember also in Ephesians that you have the armor of God to put on the helmet of salvation and to use your sword and to use your shield and to use your faith in God, in Jesus, to come and cast out that thought.

So establishing that physical, holistic foundation is step number one. But once you have addressed the biological side, you have to launch a coordinated strike.

So what do we do about it? Well, in another episode, we've given some suggestions, but for this type of thing, when it comes to ocd, you need to attack him on several fronts.

 

You need professional help. They need to go to therapy. There is no way around that.

 

God will direct you to the therapist and to the clinic and to the approach that is right for your child or for you. There are many different types of therapy for ocd. There's a wonderful OCD clinic in Utah that many people come from all over the world to go to.

 

I would suggest we link to that if that's okay, because it's fabulous. They have a really great track record. You can also seek hypnotherapy. You can seek therapy from a Christian therapist who's trained in ocd.

 

OCD is a very different type of disorder. It takes a trained professional who really understands what they're doing to deal with it.

 

Okay, on the spiritual front, you can cast out, and you can cast out as many times as you need to. When you recognize that attack coming on your child or on yourself, you.

 

You call on the name of Jesus and you cast him out of your midst and you claim back your body. He has no right to infiltrate your body and your mind and your space. You cast him out, and then you call on Jesus to fill that space.

 

Fill that space with holy angels. Fill it with music that you love, music that brings you in touch with him. Fill it with joyful things that you enjoy doing. You fill that space.

 

You fill that void with truth from the Bible. Pull open your favorite scripture story, or if it's a kid, turn on Superbook or some other really fun Yancy. Nancy is a great one for little kids.

 

She's wonderful for helping bring in the joy of Christ and bring in fun into that moment. Okay, you do something to not feed that OCD monster and to flip the switch. You refocus the kid to light and you refocus them to what is truth?

 

Okay, that's what we do for the spiritual warfare. We don't focus on the dark, we focus on the light. We re center. We come back to what is true.

 

And your OCD professional can give you and your child more suggestions on ways to do that. But I have found that music, especially for anyone on the spectrum, seems to be a really quick way to bring people back.

 

And we remind them, don't feed the OCD monster. We want to feed the truth. We want to feed ourselves. And we do that by focusing on what is true.
