I'm your host, Tamara K. Anderson, and joining me today is the wonderful Amy Johnson, who not only happens to be a mom and grandma, but a powerful ministry leader who has stood on the front lines of prayer for her family, especially when her husband was stuck in a gambling addiction. And she is here to help share that battle tested wisdom with us today.

All right, let's kick it off by grounding ourselves in the ultimate instruction manual for spiritual warfare In Ephesians chapter 6, verse 18, where the Paul Apostle Paul commands us, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication. For all saints. Notice the word supplication. It means the act of asking or begging for something earnestly, humbly and respectfully.
We don't approach God demanding things. We come before his throne of grace humbly with respectful, authentic pleading.
Paul also teaches us to watch with all perseverance this means that we must be vigilant prayer warriors, always watching over our family, our friends, our sisters in Christ. We do not give up. We act in faith and we follow the quiet promptings of the Spirit.
There have been many times in my life when I felt a sudden impression to go check on someone or to pray for them. I didn't know why, but God did. He knew they were battling an invisible storm and needed powerful reinforcements and a reminder of his love.
Why, not too long ago, I felt a strong impression to pray for a dear friend of mine. And when I texted her to let her know I was strongly praying for her that day, she said, oh, God knew. Because the battle has been fierce.

I believe that when I was a child and a teenager and a young adult growing up, I was experiencing a lot of under attack and I would fall to temptation and fall to temptation and fall to temptation. And then one day I would just feel a shift and I would pick up myself and go talk to my mom.
And it wasn't until many years later, as an adult when I was talking to her about my situation with my husband, that she said, I would kneel down and I would pray and I would see red flags for you and I would just know that there was a problem. And so then I would just pray all the mightier for you and I would say, God, I can't reach her.
If you could just do something different than is being done and then something would shift.

Isn't it beautiful that Amy's mother prayed, God, I can't reach her. Please do something different? This is the exact essence of laboring fervently in prayer.
We see this explained in Second Colossians, chapter 4, verse 12, where Paul highlights a companion named Epaphras, describing him as always laboring fervently for you in prayers that ye may stand perfect and complete in all, all the will of God. To pray fervently means to pray with intense passion, deep feeling and unwavering enthusiasm.
You are pouring out your whole heart and soul to God on behalf of the person you love. And it doesn't have to be perfect. You can mess up and sometimes you can just hand them your feelings, say here's what I'm feeling.
And sometimes there's just no words to describe it, right? The beauty is you do not have to carry that burden alone. I am so blessed to have a tight knit group of sister Warriors.
In our Women warriors of Light group, we actively intentionally pray for each other.
And whenever one of us is feeling particularly beat up, exhausted, or under severe spiritual attack, we text a direct plea to our sisters and they pray for us. And I can testify that it works. I always feel strengthened by their prayers. Miracles do happen because of the power of prayer.
There is an incredible strength that comes from knowing you are not alone on the battlefield. When you lift up your friends, God moves.
We see this principle in the life of Job, chapter 42, verse 10, where the Bible notes and the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. Also, the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
When we shift our focus to pleading for the spiritual protection of others, God unleashes miracles and unlocks our own captivity. So you may be wondering, how do we practically organize these prayers when our homes and lives feel full of chaos?

So when I was dealing with the challenges with my husband, someone suggested that I watch the movie War Room. And she, she really understood. She learned how to understand in that movie how to take God as her general.
And at the lowest part, probably in my marriage, that movie fell from the sky basically in my lap. And I started praying for Blair and writing those prayers down and posting them in this, my sewing room at the time.
And I would just post all these prayers for Blair and they were my prayers to God. And every time I walked into that room, I would see Blair's not the enemy, remember who the enemy is. And I would pray more.
And then those turned into prayers for a son that I was having a hard time with.
And, and I know that when we stop worrying so much about what we can do and we start worrying about what God can do, and we start asking for those things and prayers in mighty, mighty, mighty supplication. It changes everything. I can't change hearts. I'm just not that great.
But God changes my heart every day, and God changes my husband's heart every day and he changes my children's heart every day. And so all I have to do is be willing to be humble enough to forget myself and ask God to bless those around me with the things that they truly need.
