Episode Takeaways
- The Two-Punch Rebuttal (Matthew 4): When tempted in the wilderness, Jesus did not debate the devil. He used a two-punch combo: declaring written truth ("It is written") and delivering a definitive vocal command ("Get thee hence, Satan").
- Rebuke the Source, Not the Person (Matthew 16): When Jesus rebuked Peter, He recognized the dark source operating behind the words. When contention strikes your marriage or family, pause! Stop fighting your loved ones and rebuke the spirit of anger driving the wedge.
- The Critical Sequence: If a child is in an active physiological state of panic, their nervous system is locked in "fight, flight, or freeze." You must calm the physical body first (using deep breathing) to get oxygen to the brain before casting out the darkness and filling the void with light.
- The Complete Eviction (Mark 9): When Jesus healed the afflicted boy, He delivered a two-part command: "Come out of him, and enter no more into him." When you cast out darkness, command it to leave and forbid it from returning to seal the door in Christ's light!

Reflection Questions
- When contention strikes your marriage or family, do you tend to attack the person, or do you pause to rebuke the spiritual source of the anger?
- Why is it so crucial to calm the physiological body (like taking deep breaths during a panic attack) before trying to execute spiritual warfare?
- Are you currently using the "two-punch rebuttal" by speaking the Word of God and delivering a vocal command when the enemy attacks your mind?

Ordinary women Extraordinary Faith When God calls, we say yes the Arise Women of God Podcast hello and welcome back to the Arise Women of God Podcast.
I'm your host Tamara K. Anderson and today we are walking through the operational steps to confront, rebuke and evict spiritual attacks from your mind, your marriage and your family. Here are what we are covering in today's episode.
First, the two punch rebuttal what Jesus in the Wilderness teaches us about pairing scripture with direct vocal commands. Next, we'll talk rebuking the source and not the person.
Here we'll look at Matthew chapter 16 to help us target the adversary instead of our loved ones.
Then we'll talk about the critical sequence and I'll share my personal story with one of my kids and a panic attack and how it's important to calm the brain before casting out darkness.
And finally, we'll talk about the complete eviction and how Mark chapter nine shows us how to command darkness to leave and permanently close the door behind it. All right, let's begin with the master template of spiritually rebuking by looking at the story of Jesus in the wilderness.
When you face a spiritual attack, you cannot reason or negotiate with the enemy. Look at how our Lord Jesus Christ handled the adversary in Matthew chapter 4, verses 1 through 11.
After fasting for 40 days in the wilderness, Jesus was physically hungry and depleted. Satan repeatedly assailed him, twisting scripture and questioning his divine identity. If thou be the Son of God, notice what Jesus did not do.
He did not enter into a philosophical debate and he didn't entertain the doubt twice. He answered him with the Word of God, it is written. And then he delivered the definitive vocal Rebuke in Matthew 4:10.
Get thee hence Satan, for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Scripture records that the moment Jesus spoke that command, the devil left him and angels immediately came and ministered unto him. Wow.
This gives us the ultimate two punch rebuttal. First, declare written truth. You can counter the adversary's lies with scripture. Second, speak the vocal cast out.
You can command the adversary to leave in the name of Jesus Christ. Oh my friend, when an attack feels particularly intense, I don't hesitate to ask God for high level reinforcements.
In my personal prayers, I often ask Heavenly Father to dispatch the most powerful heavenly beings necessary to come and remove whoever is attacking my home or whatever spiritual weapon has been formed against us. You have the right to ask for heaven's armies as a child of the light.
The second critical principle is setting immediate verbal boundaries against your thoughts that try to derail you from your divine mission. In Matthew 16:23, Peter tried to dissuade Jesus from going to the cross and out of human concern. But look at the Savior's immediate response.
He turned and said to Peter, get thee behind me Satan, for thou art an offense unto me, for thou savorest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Notice, Jesus didn't attack Peter's character and he didn't sever his relationship with Peter.
He recognized the dark source operating behind the words and addressed it directly. Satan was the enemy, not Peter. I have had to apply this directly in my own marriage.
There have been times when my husband and I have had intense discussions and emotions have started getting riled. At moments like that. He is really good about pausing the argument so that we can both have space to de escalate.
When we pause, I go to God in prayer and say, lord, I don't want to feel this way anymore.
And then right there, I ask God in the name of Jesus Christ to help me cast out the spirit of anger, fear, frustration, or whatever else I'm feeling and replace it with God's peace, light, kindness and understanding. Every single time I do this, I can feel the tension drop, my frustration dissolves and I find I'm able to communicate with love once again.
So my friend, when contention strikes, stop fighting your spouse or child. Pause and rebuke the spirit of contention driving the wedge.
Now you might be wondering, what do you do when a spiritual attack is tied to, say, acute anxiety or panic? Not long ago, one of my children called me in a severe state of anxiety and distress.
As they shared what was happening, I noticed they were spiraling and couldn't seem to calm down. Naturally, I immediately stepped into mama warrior mode and I prayed our cast out the adversary prayer. But my child still didn't calm down.
As I paused and prayerfully asked God, Lord, what am I missing here?
I immediately felt the Holy Spirit whisper in my mind that my child was in an active physiological state of panic, meaning their nervous system was completely locked and fight flight or freeze response. And standard reasoning or rapid prayers couldn't break through that neurological challenge. So I changed my approach.
I led my child through slow, deep breathing exercises, breathing in through the nose and then slowly out through the mouth.
Within minutes, just breathing deeply and getting that oxygen in their body grounded their nervous system and shifted them out of kind of their survival brain and back into their thinking brain. And then once they were physically grounded and calm, we were able to get the adversary out and fill them with light.
It's amazing how instantly peace returned. So remember the sequence that I had to relearn. First calm the physical body and then cast out the darkness and fill the void with light and peace.
All right, let's talk about this final way to make a rebuke of the adversary complete. In Mark, chapter 9:25:27, a father brought his afflicted son to Jesus. The unclean spirit threw the boy into a violent convulsion.
But Jesus, he didn't flinch. He spoke with absolute command. Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out from him and enter no more into him.
Notice that two part command come out the eviction or rebuke process and second, enter no more interim or closing and locking the door. When you rebuke the enemy's attack in your mind or your home, you don't just ask him to leave for an hour.
You command the spirit of fear, confusion or depression to depart in the name of Jesus Christ and you forbid it or bind it from returning to harass you and your household. Basically, you're sealing the door in Christ's light.
Oh my dear friend, you have been given the divine capacity and the tactical roadmap to rebuke every attack that comes against your home in and through the power and name of Jesus Christ.
