Second what Inventorying our God given armor and the promises that protect us.
3 The when knowing when to stand guard and how to stand firm in the evil day. Fourth the where mapping out three primary battlegrounds, the heart, the mind and the home. 5.
The how executing winning tactics from prayer and thanksgiving to fasting for stubborn strongholds. All right, let's kick it off with the first critical question every mother warrior must answer. Who is in this fight?
To win any battle you have to know who is standing on your side and who is standing against you. First, who is fighting for us? First, John 4:4 establishes our backing and identity.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. So, my friends, you do not fight in your own strength. The God of the universe can dwell in you as you abide in him, and he doesn't leave you alone.
In Psalm 91:11 he promises, for he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. There you have it. You have a heavenly host dispatched to help you guard your home. So who is the real enemy?
In Revelation 12 we are reminded that Satan was cast out of heaven along with one third of the host who rebelled against God. 1St Peter 5:8 warns us of his tactics.
Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour. My friend, your spouse is not the enemy. Your child is not the enemy. Your enemy is the fallen adversary. But greater is he that is in you.
Remember that. This brings us to question 2. What equipment has God provided for the fight? Ephesians, chapter 6, verses 13 through 17.
Paul gives us the complete inventory of our spiritual gear.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to Withstand in the evil day, having your loins gird about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Notice that every piece of armor is designed to cover you, and your offensive weapon is the word of God. And what is the ultimate outcome of every weapon the enemy forms against your family?
Isaiah 54:17 declares, no weapon that is formed against these shall prosper, and every every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. What a beautiful promise. The adversary can form weapons, but God promises they will not prosper.
All right, question three. When does spiritual warfare happen? And when do we prepare? The short answer is, we prepare to fight right now.
In 1st Thessalonians 5, 6, and 8, we are called to spiritual readiness. Therefore, let us not sleep as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
We cannot afford to slumber spiritually while the culture attacks our families. And when the storm hits, what Paul calls the evil day, in Ephesians 6:13, our mandate is simple, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day.
And having done all to stand, you don't retreat and you don't panic. You put on your gear, stand in God's promises and hold your ground.
In 1886, Russell Kelso Carter wrote the words to the hymn Standing on the Promises of Christ My King. I love what the second verse conveys about standing, standing on the promises that cannot fail.
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail by the living word of God, I shall prevail. Standing on the promises of God. All right, my friends, question four. Where is this war actually being fought? Obviously around us.
But there are three primary battlegrounds that we'll talk about today. First, the heart. Proverbs 4:23 commands, Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.
Your spiritual state and internal heart and soul can set the tone for your entire home, so of course the devil will target your heart. Second, the mind.
Second Corinthians 10:5 reveals the mental battleground, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. This is where we stop intrusive thoughts and anxious loops before they take root.
Some of the most vicious battles fought happen right here in our mind. And third the home. Joshua 24:15 anchors our physical boundary. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
You have a God given stewardship over the threshold of your home, my sister, my friend. Finally, question 5 How do we actually execute spiritual warfare and when? All right, first, stop trying to do it in human muscle. Zechariah 4.
6 Reminds us not by might nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Second, when anxiety or panic attacks your mind, execute the formula in Philippians 4:6,7 everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving.
Let your requests be made known unto God and the peace of God shall keep your hearts and minds. I love these keys of humble supplication in prayer with gratitude. Those are powerful tools to help us win.
Third, once you cast out fear, fill the the void. Philippians chapter 48 teaches us to think on things that are true, honest, pure, lovely of good report.
Good and pure thoughts can be a shield to your mind.
And fourth, when you face a persistent stronghold in a child or family member that won't seem to budge, remember Jesus's words in Mark 9:29 this kind can come forth by nothing but by prayer and fasting. Fasting elevates spiritual offense and can help break those heavy chains.
