- Revelation 12:11 (To overcome the enemy by the word of your testimony)
- 1 Samuel 17:45 (To face your giants in the name of the Lord of Hosts)
Episode Takeaways
- Establish a Perimeter: You can legally lay down God's boundary lines around your home. By audibly praying verses like Zechariah 2:5, you invite God to be a literal "wall of fire" that consumes the darkness before it touches your family.
- Deploy Your Mind Swords: According to 2 Timothy 1:7, fear is an external spirit trying to disrupt your peace. You have the authority to pull out your "mind swords" (the Word of God) and aggressively cast it out.
- The Blueprint for Victory: James 4:7 gives us a clear 3-step formula. You must first submit and yoke yourself to God, then resist (aggressively stand against) the devil, and only then will he flee from you.
- Find Your Five Smooth Stones: When David fought Goliath, he refused Saul's heavy armor because he hadn't proven it. Instead, he used familiar smooth stones. God will inspire unique, tailored strategies for your family—whether that is a 15-minute morning devotional or a midnight prayer over a doorframe. Find what works for you and use it!

Hey, my friend, have you ever wondered what scriptures to read when you are under spiritual attack? Because you need to know how to bring God's power in when you're feeling discouraged or perhaps your family is in crisis.
This is so heart wrenchingly difficult because when your heart is racing, you don't need a vague reading plan. You need targeted weaponized words to break the darkness instantly. Well, take heart, my friend.
By the end of today's episode, you'll know four specific scriptural shields to establish a perimeter of defense around you and your home, an ultimate sound mind sword to halt a panic attack, and how David's five smooth stones reveal exactly how to conquer the giants threatening you and your family. Stay tuned. Ordinary women extraordinary faith. When God calls, we say yes. Hello and welcome back to the Arise Women of God podcast.
I'm your host, Tamara K. Anderson, and today we are looking at the Bible through a new lens. Not through the beautiful poetry, but we're looking for tactical specific scriptures we can read when we are under a spiritual attack.
So let's look at how we build our home's defensive walls. When you feel like the adversary is clawing at your front door, you can legally lay down God's boundary lines.
Read these specific four verses in your home. First, Psalm 91, verses 11 and 12. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up with their hands. This, my friends, is not just a metaphor. You can call on God to dispatch angels to help you.
Invite them in to strengthen and protect you and each of your family members. The command to ask and ye shall receive applies to this verse every time. Ask for angels from heaven and you will receive.
Next, follow it with 2nd Thessalonians, chapter 3, verse 3, which reads, but the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you and keep you from evil. Read that aloud and claim its promise. Third, open to Proverbs, chapter 18, verse 10, which says, the name of the Lord is a strong tower.
The righteous runneth into it and is safe. Invoke the name of Jesus Christ as your strong tower. Jesus is my strong tower, and I will rest in him and not be afraid and cast out the adversary.
Get thee hence, right? Finally, we're going to look at the historical significance of the fourth verse. I'm going to share with you.
In Zechariah, chapter 2, verse 5, the prophet Zechariah was watching a man go out to physically measure Jerusalem, to rebuild its stone walls. But the Lord stopped him and declared. For I saith the Lord Will be unto her a wall of fire round about and will be the glory in the midst of her.
My friends, in ancient times and a city without physical stone walls was completely defenseless against midnight intruders. But God was basically telling them, I am going to be that supernatural wall of fire that consumes any intruder before they touch my people.
Pray this verse over your household, and as you do, you are claiming a literal wall of Fort fire around you and your family, your vehicles, your property lines. The darkness cannot pass through a boundary wrapped by God's glory. All right, next, let's tackle the mind swords and absolute authority.
Once your perimeter is secure, you kind of have to clean up the warfare raging in our minds, which is where the most hard battles are waged. When anxiety, depression, or sudden terror hits your child, you need to open your mouth and deploy these powerful mind swords.
Pull out second Timothy, chapter one, verse seven, which says, for God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Notice that the text calls it a spirit of fear.
It is an external entity trying to disrupt your biological peace and you, my friend, have the power to cast it out. Follow that immediately with Isaiah, chapter 41, verse 10, which is a favorite. Fear thou not, for I am with thee. Be not dismayed, for I am thy God.
I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. These are powerful words to speak speak when we are battling fear.
They remind us that our strength comes from God and he will not leave us unprotected nor undefended.
When your teenagers feel targeted by peer pressure culture or the whispering lies of the devil telling them that they are not good enough, have them read Deuteronomy, chapter 31, verse 6, which says, Be strong and of a good courage. Fear not nor be afraid of them. For the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go down with thee. He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
That is powerful to remember that God is with us no matter what, and that he won't fail us. When we may feel like we're standing alone, then look at James chapter four, verse seven, which gives us a powerful blueprint.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Wow, look at that powerful three point formula. First, submit to God, yoke yourself to Him.
Second, resist the devil. The word resist in the original language meant aggressively stand against. You are not begging Satan to leave, you are commanding him to leave.
And then the devil will flee from us. For as it says in Romans 8:31, if God be for us, who can be against us?
In Revelations 12:11 it says, we overcome the adversary by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony. There are times when I feel doubts coming into my mind and I bear testimony. I know Jesus lives. I know he loves me. I am a daughter of God.
I am a warrior of light. I speak those truths of testimony and they cast out the lies.
Let's wrap it up by talking about the shepherd's slingshot and taking a look at the story of David and Goliath in First Samuel chapter 17.
Here in this story, a massive, weaponized nine and a half foot giant who was quite a bully was standing in the battle battlefield yelling shaming threats to the Israelites every single day, paralyzing them with fear. King Saul himself was terrified. But then young David stepped up to volunteer to fight this giant.
Saul tried to convince David to wear his massive armor. To protect himself, David put it on. He told the king, I cannot go down with these, for I have not proved them.
David took off the armor and instead went down to a brook and where he chose five smooth stones and he put them in his shepherd's bag and took along his trusty slingshot.
He came with what he had unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and the simple tools he had proven time and time again as a shepherd to protect his flock from the lion and the bear. When he reached the battlefield, Goliath mocked him. But David didn't rely on any physical weapons or human strength.
He opened his mouth in 1st Samuel, chapter 17, verse 45, and boldly declared, thou comest to me with a sword and with a spear and with a shield, but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. Ooh. I would have loved to have peeked down from heaven and seen this beautiful scene unfold.
Sisters, your household demons may look like nine foot giants right now.
Maybe it's a pornography addiction, the severe clinical diagnosis of ocd, or the giant of crushing depression that is threatening to destroy you or your children's future. When you look at those giants, pray and ask for guidance.
Sometimes God will lead you to other tested strategies, maybe from a friend or a professional. So something that feels right. Find what works uniquely for you and your children and use it. Gather your own five smooth stones.
If one of your stones is a specific 15 minute morning devotional routine at breakfast time, use it. If your smooth stone is a quiet, audible prayer over a child's door frame at midnight. Use it. God will inspire your strategy. Seek and ye shall find.
Knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that seeketh findeth, and unto him that knocks, it shall be opened with the Lord of Hosts at your side.
Nothing is indeed impossible, my friends. The written word of God is not a passive shield. It is an active living force.
The moment you open your mouth, read these verses in your kitchen to your children. The enemy's giants will fall.
