Can God Speak to Me Through Someone Else?
Apr 16, 2026Summary
Have you ever been having a conversation with a friend or listening to a sermon, and the words spoken were so perfectly aligned with your struggles that it felt like they had read your private prayer journal? If you've ever wondered, "Can God speak to me through someone else?" you are certainly not alone. In this episode of the Arise, Women of God podcast, host Tamara K. Anderson and guest Bonnie Randall explore the beautiful relay system of Heaven. We dive into how God uses messengers to bypass our internal walls of doubt when we are feeling spiritually invisible.
First, we look at the Old Testament story of Hannah and how a priest's words changed her life. Then, Bonnie shares her powerful prodigal journey, detailing the miraculous moment she walked into a church only to hear a pastor deliver a message that could have only come from a God who intimately knew her name. Finally, we discuss how to apply "safety checks for the soul," learning to discern the first voice of revelation from the second voice of doubt. Tune in to this deeply moving conversation to uncover how the Father of Lights is sending messengers your way today!
Episode Takeaways
- The Relay System of Heaven: God often uses the people right next to us as authorized messengers to bypass our internal doubt and deliver His peace.
- Hannah and Eli: Just as Eli spoke for the Lord to comfort Hannah in her deep sorrow, God is still sending "Elis" into our lives today.
- The Prodigal Miracle: Bonnie's story proves that God knows exactly where you are sitting. He can use a stranger's sermon to wrap you in His love and forgiveness.
- Safety Checks for the Soul: The first voice you hear when seeking truth is usually the Spirit; the second voice is inevitably the adversary trying to make you doubt.

The Arise Women of God Podcast hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast. I'm your host, Tamara K. Anderson, and joining me today is the amazing Bonnie Randall, who is one of our fantastic women warriors.
And and today we're exploring the relay system of Heaven. How God Uses Messengers. First, I'm going to share a little bit of the story of Hannah from the Old Testament and how a priest changed her life.
Second, Bonnie is going to share her sermon Miracle, the moment a pastor she had never met delivered a message that could have only come from a God who knew her name. And third, we're going to cover the the safety checks for the soul.
How to discern if that first message you're receiving through a friend is truly a green light from the Father of Lights. But first, let's kick it off by diving into the story of Hannah in the old Testament.
In First Samuel, Chapter 1, we meet Hannah and she is in the deep wilderness of her soul, longing for a child. And she has been barren. And so we find Hannah weeping at the doors of the tabernacle, praying with all her heart and soul for a child.
She was so desperate in her prayer that her lips were moving, but no sound came out. This is where Eli the priest found her. And he completely misunderstood her at first because he thought she was drunk.
But when she explained her heart, Eli became the messenger she needed. He didn't have all the context of her years of suffering and pleading to the Lord, but he spoke for the Lord. Listen to what he said in verse 17.
Go in peace, peace and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition. Wow, what an answer. The Scriptures then tell us that Hannah wasn't sad anymore. She knew she had gotten an answer from God through Eli the priest.
Sometimes the person sitting right next to you is the one God has authorized to send you peace. So God used Eli to turn Hannah's grief into hope. And she later bore the great prophet Samuel.
Now Bonnie is going to share a modern day version of God touching us through another person as she shares what happened when she finally walked back into a church after her prodigal journey.

And how I wandered for a while and wanted nothing to do with Jesus. And then my sister helped me come back.
And when I did eventually go back to church with, with my sister and her family, when we were sitting in, you walk in and she's. I can't remember what denomination she is, but it doesn't matter. You walk in and there's this worship band playing and it was beautiful.
I love Christian music and I'm a big. I sing and play the piano and just music's a big part of my life.
And so when I walked in, I didn't really know what to expect, but this worship music was playing and it was all about coming into Jesus, having, letting him heal you. And then. So I was. I started getting kind of emotional and like, oh gosh, okay. And the Spirit started hitting me.
And all of a sudden it was like this tidal wave of the Spirit. And I hadn't realized how much I had been missing out on those years that I had kind of been wandering and lost. And it's just so broken.
And then the pastor gets up and guess what? His sermon's on.

What?

The prodigal son. Right? I turned to my sister and I'm like, did you tell him I was coming? And she's like, no, I swear I didn't say anything.
And I just sat there soaking up his message of love and mercy and forgiveness and how doesn't matter what we've done, we can always turn to him and be forgiven. And I. Then they get up and they start singing another song.
And I can't remember what one it was, but it was as if the entire host of heaven came down and wrapped their arms around me. I couldn't even stand. My knees buckled and I fell to the floor just bawling. And I felt. I felt filled.
And I realized how starving I truly was in that moment. I needed so much. And thankfully the Savior didn't, didn't disappoint.
He came and he filled me with his love and with his, in that moment, his righteousness.

God knew exactly where Bonnie was sitting that day. He used that pastor's voice to pierce through the cloud of doubt. But now let's address another aspect of this.
When you feel like God is answering you through another person, how do you know that message is actually coming from Him? This is where we apply Step five from our free Roadmap to Revelation Download.
It talks about safety checks and Bonnie is now going to share a simple rule for identifying that first voice of revelation.

I heard a quote once that is worth sharing something to the effect of, and this is why I say I'm not a scriptorian, because I can't ever quote people correctly.
But something to the effect of the first voice when you're praying is God is the Spirit and the second, inevitably is the adversary, because he wants us to doubt ourselves.
So if while you're in the middle of this prayer, this searching for truth and righteousness, if you can be still and get yourself still enough, that first thought that you have is the clue. And usually you want to run with that.

So, my friend, God is still sending Eli's and pastors and friends into our lives today. If someone says something that brings you a tidal wave of peace or clarity, pay attention.
God teaches us it is by their fruits ye shall know them, and God is the author of peace, not confusion.
