Summary

Have you ever found yourself praying for the exact same thing for the thousandth time? Whether it is a child's safety, a health breakthrough, or help overcoming a recurring weakness, it is easy to feel like an annoyance. If you have ever asked, "Does God get tired of hearing the same prayer?", you are in the right place. In this episode of the Arise, Women of God podcast, host Tamara K. Anderson and guest Tiffany Fletcher tackle the heavy burden of prayer guilt. We explore the powerful Parable of the Unjust Judge, proving that your persistence is actually a beautiful sign of faith, not a nuisance to Heaven.

We also break down the "humanistic trap"—why we mistakenly project our own quick tempers and human impatience onto a perfect, loving Father. Tiffany shares her personal "thorn in the flesh" story about a broken foot, explaining how a "no" from God is often a loving invitation to learn deeper humility and trust His timing. If you are a Christian woman worried about wearing out God's patience, this episode will help you move from feeling like a pest to finding a Father who cares deeply about your every word. Keep knocking, and tune in to discover the peace of unceasing prayer!

Episode Takeaways

  • Normalize Repetitive Prayer: God is not annoyed by your daily requests. Just as Tiffany has prayed the exact same prayer for her children's safety every day for years, God invites you to continually bring your deepest cares to Him.
  • The Unjust Judge Principle: Jesus taught the Parable of the Unjust Judge to prove that persistence is rewarded. If a flawed judge listens to a persistent widow, how much more will your perfect Father listen to you?
  • Avoid the Humanistic Trap: We often project our own human impatience onto God. Unlike a frustrated parent tired of a child asking for candy, God has infinite patience and a love that is all-encompassing.
  • Accepting the "No": Sometimes God's answer to a persistent prayer is "no." This isn't a sign of annoyance, but often a loving lesson to keep us humble and teach us to pace ourselves.

Reflection Questions

  • What is one prayer you have been repeating for months or even years? How does it change your perspective to view that repetition as an act of faith rather than an annoyance?
  • Do you often project human traits—like impatience or frustration—onto God when you pray?
  • Can you look back at a time when God answered a persistent prayer with a "no," and see how it ultimately blessed or protected you?

The Arise Women of God Podcast hello, and welcome to another episode of the Arise Woman of God podcast.

I'm your host, Tamara K. Anderson, and joining me today is the absolutely amazing Tiffany Fletcher, a member of our Women warriors of Light Advisory board. And she is so amazingly talented in so many ways.

And so we're blessed to have her with us as we're discussing the beautiful power of unceasing prayer. First, we're going to normalize daily repetitive prayer, as Tiffany shares one particular prayer she has offered every single day for years.

Second, we're going to break down the Savior's parable of the unjust judge, ultimate proof that persistence is rewarded. And third, we're going to discuss the humanistic trap why we mistakenly project our own impatience on God.

Finally, we're going to talk about the weight and the no, including Tiffany's personal thorn in the flesh story about a broken foot that wouldn't heal. But first, let's kick it off by saying the same prayer over and over. And does God get tired of hearing it?

Tiffany Fletcher

00:02:09.180 - 00:03:36.230

My humble opinion is no. I do not think that God ever gets tired of hearing our prayers. If he told us to forgive 70 times 7, I think that he's okay.

70 Times 7 with our prayers that are 70 times 7 too. I feel like, I mean, you look at these women like Hannah and who who prayed for a son for such a long time.

You know, Rebecca, I think that God answered their prayers because they continue to trust that he would be there and answer them for for them. I. I feel like God loves us and he is very much invested in our lives and what matters to us, matters to Him.

Even if we ask him 150 billion times, it still matters to Him. To be honest, I say the same prayer.

One of the same prayers that I say every day is I ask Heavenly Father to protect my children as they leave the home. It is the same prayer every single day. Please protect my children. Surround him with angels. Keep him safe. Bring him home safe.

Same prayer every single day that I prayed every year that I've been a mother every day. And God still continues to protect my children. And I'm grateful for that.

And so I feel like God is very much willing to hear our prayers and he wants to answer them. Sometimes it's not in our timing, sometimes it's in his timing, but. And sometimes the answer is no. And that's okay, too.

Isn't it great to know that he wants to hear from us, even the same request, year after year? But I found that prayer isn't just about getting what we want. It's about syncing our divine will up with his.

Sometimes that process requires us coming back until our hearts are ready for the answer. Jesus actually taught a specific story to encourage this kind of persistence.

I love the parable of the unjust judge and that, that widow that was so, so persistent.

I think there's a lesson in that story for us too, that the widow just kept going back and going back and going back, and finally the judge is like, oh, just give her what she wants so she'll stop coming back and quit pestering me. So I love that also example where Jesus is basically teaching us, if.

If an unjust judge will finally give someone who is persistent enough what they're asking for, how much more will God give what we need if we ask for it, even unceasingly? Right? So there's a lesson in that as well. If the bad judge listens, the good Father is definitely listening.

Now Tiffany's going to dive into a major reason we feel like we're pestering God. We assume God gets cranky, just as we do when our kids ask for candy for the umpteenth time.

Tiffany Fletcher

00:05:13.310 - 00:07:09.180

I think sometimes we see God from a humanistic view, thinking that he has the same, like, impatience and, you know, tendencies that we have. I mean, you know, if we're a parent and our child comes over and over and over again asking for candy before dinner, we're.

We're gonna get frustrated with that child. We may even lose our temper and we may ground them from candy for a week. I don't know. But. But God. God is not that way.

Like, he does not have those humanistic tendencies, right? He loves us, and he is forever and always Patient with us.

So even if we're asking and the answer is no, and we continue to ask, he will still be patient with us. He sees us as a. From a loving father perspective. And he. He is perfect. And I love how you said if an unjust judge can give.

Like, like think about a perfect father, right? Like, none of us, we have never met a perfect father because no father is perfect. We are all mortal. And. But our heavenly Father is.

He is so perfect and he is so loving and he is so patient and he is so kind with us. And yes, he may chase to nest once in a while and say, you know what? I already. I already told you no.

So maybe ask a different question next time, you know, kind of thing. But he will do it in a loving and a kind way. And that is why he is our Father and that is why he is God.

Because his patience is never ending and his love is all encompassing. And that is something that we need to understand when we come boldly to the throne of grace and.

And we can come boldly to the throne of grace when we understand that he is grace and that he gives it freely to each and every one of us, no matter who we are or what prayer we pray.

Tamara K. Anderson

00:07:09.500 - 00:07:29.250

Isn't it wonderful to know that God's patience is infinite? But that doesn't mean that a yes comes immediately after every prayer.

Sometimes persistence in prayer is meant to teach us something else, something deeper. And Tiffany's gonna dive into this by sharing about a personal, physical trial.

Tiffany Fletcher

00:07:29.650 - 00:09:00.440

The whole parable was taught to us so that we can remember that we should pray unceasingly. And that was the same prayer that that lady asked for. The same thing over and over and over again. And God is the same way. He. He wants us to pray.

I think sometimes if we feel like we're not getting the answers that we want, maybe ask a different question or maybe ask God if the answer is no, and if it is, then move on, right? Like, sometimes the answer is no. I. I have a sore foot that I have been asking. I broke it a while ago and it still hurts to walk.

And sometimes I'm like, God, please can you heal this? And I kind of got the same answer. I felt as. As Paul did. You know, this is keeping you humble, right? Like, this is.

This is something that you don't need to be healed for. This is to teach you that you don't have to run faster than you have strength, right? Like. Like there's so many things.

There's so many things that he's teaching me in not healing my foot so that I can walk as much as I want to and do all the things and, and that's okay. I think that we need to be willing to accept when the answer is no.

But if we haven't, if God hasn't said, you know, your answer is no, keep asking, keep asking. Rebecca did, Hannah did, and eventually they were able to have a son.

And I feel like that is the same for us, that we will be able to have the things that we desire because God loves us and he wants us to find joy in this life. And what matters to us, matters to Him. I really believe that.

Tamara K. Anderson

00:09:00.920 - 00:10:36.830

So, my friends, keep ringing the bell. God isn't checking his watch or rolling his eyes when you come to Him. He is a father who delights in hearing your voice happy or sad or frustrated.
