Summary

Have you ever successfully stopped an argument or commanded a dark mood to leave your home, only to have a heavy wave of exhaustion or conflict slam right back into you an hour later? It is so incredibly easy to feel stuck in a relentless revolving door of spiritual attacks! If you are tired of merely surviving the enemy’s skirmishes and are asking how to win spiritual warfare, you are in the exact right place.

In this episode of the Arise, Women of God podcast, host Tamara K. Anderson and licensed clinical social worker Wendi Christensen outline the ultimate blueprint for permanent victory. We unpack the critical clinical and spiritual concept of the "vacuum effect"—why leaving the battlefield empty after casting out the adversary is an open invitation for a secondary ambush. Wendi shares exact clinical tools and recovery protocols to instantly shift your brain chemistry and fill the void with the light of Jesus Christ!

We also look at two unyielding ancient military principles from the Old Testament: Nehemiah’s holy stubbornness to refuse distraction (Nehemiah 6) and the necessity of total transparency to root out hidden sins (Joshua 7). Tune in to discover the tactical weapons you need to stop settling for temporary truces and start claiming complete territorial victory over your home!

Episode Takeaways

  • The Vacuum Effect: To secure a permanent win, you must understand what happens the exact second the adversary departs. If you cast out darkness but leave the space empty, you create a vacuum effect. You must aggressively fill that void with light!
  • Active Recovery Time: Once you cast out negative interference, you need recovery time. Immediately fill the void with worship music, positive affirmations, physical grounding, gratitude, or creativity to shift your brain chemistry and seal the space.
  • The Principle of Refusal (Nehemiah 6): The enemy will try to distract you from the great work of building your home. Like Nehemiah, you must develop a "holy stubbornness" and say: "I am doing a great work in my home, and I am not coming down to your level!"
  • Total Transparency (Joshua 7): When one soldier hid stolen goods in his tent, the entire Israelite army suffered a staggering defeat. Bringing hidden secrets, toxic habits, or resentment into the open light completely strips the adversary of his leverage over your home.

Reflection Questions

  • After you successfully navigate a spiritual attack or argument, what do you usually do? Do you leave the space empty, or do you actively fill the void with light?
  • What are three things you can do today (like playing worship music, baking, or writing down gratitude) to act as an "active recovery" protocol in your home?
  • Are there any "hidden things" (resentment, toxic media, or secrets) buried in your "tent" right now that the adversary is using as leverage against your family?

When God calls, we say yes. Hello, and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.

I'm your host, Tamara K. Andersen, and joining me today is my co founder, Wendy Christiansen, who happens to be a licensed clinical social worker with over 30 years of experience. And I'm glad to have her here as we're tackling this perplexing question, how to win spiritual warfare because it is possible. And.

And who doesn't love winning? So far in this podcast series on spiritual warfare, we have mapped out a deep defensive arsenal.

We have learned that to win, we must first know our divine identity, aggressively recognize the footprints of the adversary when he is attacking, vocally cast out the adversary in the name of Jesus, call down heavenly angels for backup, and escalate our efforts through fasting and prayer when facing deep spiritual adversarial strongholds. But to secure a permanent win, you have to understand what happens the exact second the adversary departs.

If you leave the battlefield empty, you haven't actually won the war. You've just created an open invitation for a secondary ambush.

Wendy is now going to explain why winning requires us to aggressively fill that empty space before the adversary tries to reclaim the territory.

You have to remember when you get rid of something negative, and this is anything that you're getting rid of negative. If I'm going to get rid of a bad habit, I need to Replace it with a good, positive thing, right? I need to replace with a good.

A positive habit if I'm going to get rid of smoking. A smoker will chew gum because they need to keep themselves busy. So it's the same thing with spiritual warfare.

If I'm getting rid of negative stuff, I need to replace with positive stuff because it kind of creates this vacuum effect right after casting out something negative. So if I cast out a negative tool, negative spirit, negative influence, I like to name it for what it is.

I cast out the spirit of overwhelm, of anxiety, of not feeling enough. So calling it for exact, the spirit of depression, anxiety. So once I cast that out, I want to fill the void.

And filling the void with light is the best thing. You can do that in lots of different ways. I can fill that void by saying, and I fill it with light. And often I'll ask for angels.

I ask for angels to protect and to shield me or my family, my home, and fill that void with light or whatever needs to happen to help it.

So just directly asking, and then you want to invite more around you to fill that space so you could ground yourself, take some deep breaths, center yourself, do some worship. Music. I love music. Music brings the spirit more powerfully, I think, than anything else. Way more powerfully than words. So bringing in that music.

In fact, I was talking to my son. He's at a. He's at a church camp this week. And I was talking to him last night, and he said, mom, I was playing the piano for everyone.

And we felt the spirit so strongly. He was playing hymns. He's like, the spirit came so strongly.

He goes, I was just bawling afterwards because it was so powerful and so strong and thought, I am so proud of you for recognizing and bringing the spirit in so strongly for all these. This huge group of teenage boys that are just hanging out. And they were all feeling the spirit because he was playing the hymns on the piano.

It was so beautiful and so wonderful. And I thought, that's such a great way to bring that. To fill that void that might have been created.

Filling that void with light is active recovery time. And Wendy is now going to share the exact clinical tools a mother can implement to instantly shift her brain chemistry.

Wendi Christensen

00:05:23.330 - 00:07:26.920

And anchor her household in joy, even vocalizing positive affirmations. Satan doesn't want you to think highly and positively of yourself.

So if you're sitting there going, I am a beautiful, beloved daughter of God who loves me. I have the ability to create happiness around me or gratitude.

I always have every Time somebody comes to see me right before they leave, I always have them name off three things they're grateful for, because I know the power of gratitude and how it changes the chemistry in your brain and in your mind. And so I love it when they sit there, and I love it, too, when they think deeply about what they're grateful for. Some of my favorite ones are.

I'm so grateful for the beautiful sunrise that I got to see this morning, because it showed that God was in my life and he saw me and he recognized me. Like, even the simplest thing in gratitude can bring so much light and power back into your life.

So just stop and reflect whatever brings you joy, what brings you light into your life, it. That can be what fills the void. Maybe it's physical exercise. Maybe it's going for a run or a walk that brings that joy to your life.

Maybe it's creating something. Maybe you go and bake something in your kitchen because you get to create something so you bring in that joy. Maybe it's going and dancing.

There are times where I'll turn the music that worship music on and I'll just dance like, no, nobody's watching. And that will bring light into my life and fill the void that's been created.

Because whenever you get rid of something negative, you almost need a recovery time, right? And it's. This is your recovery time. Immediately bring in something that's going to replace that negative with light.

So what brings light into your life? Think about it for a minute. Write it down. What are three of the top things that bring light into your life?

And then I would challenge you to use those whenever you get rid of that spiritual warfare, bring that light back in and use those things that bless your life and the family, your family around you.

So, my friend, once you have filled your personal space with light, you have to secure the perimeter of your home using two foundational military principles from the Old Testament. The first is the principle of unbending, refusal to negotiate. This is found in Nehemiah, chapter 6, verses 1 through 4.

Nehemiah was successful in rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem. So the enemy leaders realized they could not distract him by force.

Instead, they tried to use distraction, sending messengers four times a day to try to drag him down to a village on the plains of Ono. Nehemiah sent back an unyielding, legendary answer. I am carrying on a great work and cannot come down.

Why should the work stop while I leave and go down to you?

To win at spiritual warfare, you need to develop that exact holy, stubbornness when the enemy tries to pull you down into pointless arguments, social media distractions, or loops of self doubt, you declare, I am doing a great work in my home and I am not coming down to your level. The second military tactics strategy I wanted to share is the principle of total transparency found in Joshua, chapter 7.

The Israelite army suffered a staggering defeat at the tiny city of AI because a soldier named Achan secretly stole a Babylonian robe and bars of silver, burying them and hiding them inside his tent. That one hidden thing paralyzed the entire camp.

When we must perform spiritual housekeeping in our own tents, we have to run an honest audit of our home, bringing hidden secrets, unhealthy media, toxic habit or resentment into the open light. Bringing hidden things into the light completely strips the adversary of his leverage over you and your home and your children.

Wende is now going to share what it looks like to stand as an active warrior.

So there are these beautiful tools that we have to help us to identify when we're being attacked, know how to fight back. And not only just fight back, but bring our homes into a place where they really are these beautiful beacons of light.

And our kids and us, we're armed, we're ready, and we know how to defend and be on God's side. And we really become warriors of him and for him and for our families.

Well, my friends, you don't win spiritual warfare by simply playing defense and hoping the enemy gets tired.

You win by casting him out aggressively, filling the void with the light of Jesus Christ, refusing to negotiate with the adversary's distractions, and keeping a clean, transparent perimeter. You are the guardian of your home and through Christ, the victory is already yours.
