 Summary

Have you ever wondered how to pray against spiritual attacks when a dark cloud is hanging heavily over your head? The adversary’s favorite tactic is to whisper that you are too broken, exhausted, or unworthy to approach God, hoping you will stop praying altogether. If you feel disconnected and your mind is swirling with chaos, you are in the exact right place!

In this episode of the Arise Women of God podcast, host Tamara K. Anderson is joined by author and speaker Tiffany Fletcher to teach you how to convert prayer from a passive routine into an active protective shield. We uncover a secret grammatical link in Ephesians 6 that proves putting on the Armor of God is completely ineffective without prayer. Discover the immense relief found in Romans 8, learning how the Holy Spirit legally intercedes for you when you are too exhausted to form the words.

Tiffany also shares the practical power of praying "on the run" and how to issue a quick eviction notice to the enemy while doing the dishes or driving! Finally, we dive into Hebrews 4:16 to boldly shatter the imposter syndrome that keeps you from God's presence. You do not need a perfect parenting record to approach the Father; you only need to be yoked to Jesus Christ. Tune in to shatter the enemy's silence and reclaim your communication with Heaven today!

Episode Takeaways

  • The Grammatical Secret of Ephesians 6: There is a grammatical colon connecting the armor of God directly to prayer. The armor itself is ineffective if we don't pray and invite the Savior in! It is not the weapons that protect us; it is Jesus.
  • The Holy Spirit's Legal Intercession: When you are under heavy attack and do not have the words to pray, you can rely on Romans 8. The Holy Spirit makes "intercession" (a legal action of pleading on your behalf), translating your wordless groans directly to the Father.
  • Praying on the Run: You do not have to be kneeling in a quiet room to cast out the adversary. You can pray on the run—while driving, doing dishes, or hiding in the bathroom. Simply say, "Heavenly Father, please cast Satan's influence out," to clear the atmosphere.
  • Shattering Imposter Syndrome: The devil wants you to believe the throne room is a place of condemnation when you mess up. But Hebrews 4:16 calls it the "Throne of Grace." We are commanded to come boldly to claim mercy for past mistakes and strength for future battles.

Hey, my friend, have you ever wondered how to pray against spiritual attacks?

Because perhaps you have a dark cloud kind of hanging over your head and the adversary is whispering, you are too broken or unworthy to even approach God. Ugh.

This is so hard and so common because sometimes you feel completely disconnected and the adversary's favorite tactic is to try to get you to stop praying altogether. Well, take heart, my friend. You are in the right place. And by the end of today's episode, you'll know three powerful keys.

First, the secret grammatical link that activates the armor of God. Two, how to pray effectively on the run during a chaotic day.

And three, how to use a powerful verse in Hebrews to boldly shatter imposter syndrome that keeps you from God's throne of grace. Stay tuned. Ordinary women, extraordinary faith. When God calls, we say yes. Hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.

I'm your host, Tamara K. Andersen, and I am thrilled to have with me fellow mother, author and speaker Tiffany Fletcher, as we teach you how to convert the power of prayer from a passive outline to an active protective shield.

All right, my friends, let's dive in by looking at the ultimate warning given by the Savior during the most high stakes spiritual conflict in human history. In Mark, chapter 14, verse 38, while standing in the shadows of Gethsemane, Jesus looked at his exhausted disciples and issued a protective command.

Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The Spirit is truly ready, but the flesh is weak.

If prayer is the exact thing that carried Christ through Gethsemane, it is the exact mechanism that will carry you through through your heaviest battlefields. In fact, you can turn this exact verse into a prayer by saying something like this.

Dear Father in heaven, help me be watchful and prayerful today against the attacks of the adversary and temptation. Help me be ready and God strong, drawing on the strength of Jesus when I feel weak.

All right, my friends, now let's turn to Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 18, where after Paul teaches about the armor of light and putting on each and every piece, he closes with this, praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. Listen as Tiffany opens up the foundational link between prayer and your spiritual armor.

I love that scripture in Ephesians and I. I wanted to talk about that for a minute. So as a writer, I love grammar.

Like when I was in college, my grammar teacher said that he'd never given gave an A to anyone in grammar, but he gave one to me and he told me it was my mission in Life to come back and take his job. Because I was the only one that was good at grammar and loved grammar as much as I did. Right. I love looking at what grammar means.

And so when you read that scripture about the Spirit, which is the word of God, if you look at that verse, there is a semicolon there, or what a colon is. A colon, sorry, not a semicolon. And because the dictionary says it so much better than I do, I want to share what a colon is.

A colon in a sentence is used to introduce a list, explanation, or elaboration that follows a complete thought, essentially signaling that what comes after it is directly related to the preceding statement. It indicates that the information following the colon is further clarification or detail about what came before it.

So when you think about putting on the armor of God, that colon means that there's more to it. Like, a lot of times we just stop at that one verse and we're like, okay, we've got all the weapons on.

But in this verse, Paul's saying, no, this is probably the most important part. This is what comes after and is directly related to what's before.

Because all of those things that we put on, they're ineffective if we don't pray and call down the powers of heaven to use them correctly. Because it is not the armor and the weapons that shield and protect us. It's Jesus.

And if we don't invite him in, he's not going to be able to come when we need him. Because Jesus is never going to force himself on anyone. We see that in the Scriptures. He invites people to come to him, come to Me.

And so it is up to us to invite him in. And that is what prayer does. It's powerful, powerful.

It yokes us to him in such a way that that armor that we're putting on becomes a true shield and protection for us. Because Christ plus anything equals wholeness. And that is why prayer is foundational to everything else, my friends.

I 100% agree with Tiffany on this. Without prayer, armor can just be empty iron. So prayer is power.

But what happens when a spiritual attack is so heavy or the grief that you're feeling is so exhausting, the emotions so intense, that you don't even have words to pray when you are in that silent wilderness and your brain just doesn't have.

The words lean heavily on Romans, chapter 8, verses 25 and 26, which reads, likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities, which, for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself Maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searches the hearts knoweth what is in the mind of the Spirit because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Oh, my goodness, you guys. This is one of the roles of the Holy Spirit to make intercession.

And when I looked up the word intercession, here's what I found that it means is the legal action of intervening or pleading on behalf of. Of someone else.

So when you are under heavy spiritual attack and you don't know what to say, you can simply lay your emotions out before the Father and say, lord, I don't have the words tonight. Please let your spirit plead for me on behalf of me. And then the Holy Spirit will take your wordless groans and translate them perfectly.

The God and Father of us all straight into his mind and heart and soul. He hears you and he knows you.

Oh, my friends, knowing that the Holy Spirit is pleading for me changes everything and can change everything for you too, and your posture on the battlefield. But remember that the enemy's ultimate goal is to cut off your communication with God. Listen.

As Tiffany exposes the devil's favorite tactic to try to silence us. A very busy and packed schedule.

Tiffany Fletcher

00:07:09.850 - 00:09:26.200

Sometimes we even feel like, what's the point of praying, right? Like, because nothing's going to change. And I've realized in my own life that when I start feeling that feeling, I know it's the adversary, right?

Like the scriptures even say the Spirit teaches people to pray, but Satan, he teaches people not to pray, right? He does not want us to have that connection with our Heavenly Father.

And so when I find those moments where I. I just feel angsty or just have this dark cloud of sorrow or, you know, anything hanging over me, the first thing that I pray for, I cast Satan's influence out.

I just say, heavenly Father, please cast Satan's influence, influence out and bind him, keep him away from me, and send your spirit and your angels to surround me so I can feel your love, your spirit. And I will know what words you need me to do to move forward. And then I find that that clears my mind, like.

And sometimes there really is a physical feeling, this just whoosh, gone. And then like the light of love descending upon me and just helping me realize, okay, and then really pray from my heart with the Spirit.

Those are the prayers that I walk away from knowing that I've been heard.

And if the things that I want to happen in my life aren't happening in my life, it's because it's not time yet, or it's because God's got a different direction for me, or it's because there's lessons that I need to learn before God can give them to me. And I think pray always is really hard. I mean, it would be impossible, especially for us as mothers, to pray all the time, every day, every minute.

There's so many other things that we need to do with our life, right? I think he means that we need to turn our heart to him. So a lot of days I pray on the run, right? Like, I'm like, God, I've got to get somewhere.

Please protect us. Please protect the car. Please get us there safely, right? God, please help me. And praying on the run, sometimes that's really what God wants us to do.

Pray while we're doing the dishes, while we're driving the kids to school. Pray while we have a moment in the bathroom sometimes, right? Like, that's what he means. He means pray always and everywhere. Just connect with me.

Pray and I will be there. And that is the power of prayer in our lives.

This strategy of casting out on the run is an absolute game changer, my friend, for any of us.

Because the moment we fall short as parents, the moment we lose our tempers or make a mistake, the adversary loves to launch an accusation loop that kind of whispers in our minds that we are far too unworthy to ever approach God in prayer again.

When the enemy uses your imperfections to try to spiritually lock you out of praying, I invite you to immediately draw your scriptural sword and Deploy Hebrews chapter 4, verse 16, which reads, Therefore let us come, come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Notice that this verse commands us to come boldly.

The devil wants you to believe that the throne room is a place of condemnation, but God explicitly calls it the throne of grace in this verse. We come to that throne to claim mercy for our past mistakes and grace for our future battles.

Grace is the divine power, the unearthed strength Jesus Christ can pour into our souls to help us stand up and stand firm against the wiles of the devil. You don't approach the father because your parenting record is perfect.

You approach him because you are yoked to Jesus Christ, and with him you become perfect or complete.
